FAU has two main locations - Erlangen and Nuremberg. There are also some parts of the University which are based in other areas of the region, such as in Furth. The excellent regional infrastructure makes it quick and easy to get to these cities by train, car, plane, or bike.

Exchange students can apply for a room from Student Services Erlangen-Numberg. Information on applying for accommodations is sent out with the admission letter.

Students are responsible for their own trans-pacific transportation. Local transportation is also the responsibility of the student. In Germany, all major cities can be reached easily by train. Germany has an excellent public transportation infrastructure including underground trains, suburban trains, trams, and buses. Erlangen and Nuremberg are also bike-friendly cities with a large network of bicycle lanes.

The faculty of Engineering Sciences offers courses in Material Sciences and the following areas of engineering: Chemical Bioengineering, Electrical, Electronic, Communication, and Mechanical.

AU students must apply through the Office of International Programs on this site. Click “Apply Now” above to open an advising application; you will be prompted to complete a questionnaire about your study abroad plans, and then you can schedule a time to meet with our coordinator.
